Head coach and co-owner of CrossFit Iceni Jan Westrik.
Jan (pronounced Yan) first discovered CrossFit whilst in the Military in 2012. Starting as a way to keep fit for his job, his passion for CrossFit and helping others on their journey soon took over. Jan left the army and opened CrossFit Iceni in January 2016. Jan has a great thirst for knowledge and is constantly aiming to better himself as an athlete as well as helping everyone around him to achieve their goals.
Jan is our members first port of call for anything and everything CrossFit.
CrossFit / Kids Coach
Emma Robinson is the Swiss army knife of the group. She may be small and smilie but she packs a punch. Having a background in more sports than I can count; from national level squash to swimming, she naturally took to CrossFit with ease. Having now competed in a national level in both CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting, she’s a force to be reckoned with! Her true passion is bringing on the those little CrossFitters with her CrossFit Kids and Gymnastics classes that she runs at CrossFit Iceni.
Emma left her profession in Child care to combine her skills as an athlete and her gift with children to help children develop their potential in health and fitness. We a very lucky and very proud to have someone of Emma’s skill set on our coaching team.
Jamal Khan isn’t just known at CrossFit Iceni for his impeccable hair dos, but also for his great background in Gymnastics. Having come to the gym first as a member he quickly took to CrossFit and his potential for being a great coach quickly become apparent when he started walking around on his hands better than most can their own feet.
With a background in coaching fitness before a career in the fire service, Jamal took his CrossFit Level one in 2017 as has been a valuable member of the team ever since.
Kias is the newest member of our Coaching team. With a long career in fitness; from owning Colchester Bootcamp to being a personal training mentor, his knowledge, experience and fantastic personality add a great dynamic to the coaching team here at CrossFit Iceni. His energy towards helping others and being a part of the community made him the perfect guy to complete our team.
We look forward to seeing how is knowledge and experience will continue contributing to the coaching team.
CrossFit Coach and Barbell Guy
Mason is the young up and coming member of the team.
Mason is naturally freakishly strong. Having qualified for the nation junior Power Lifting championships during his first meet, it was quickly apparent that Mason is gifted with a barbell. His thirst for knowledge and understanding of movements and training methodology has made him a key member of the team. As an athlete mason has competed in CrossFit, Power Lifting, and Weightlifting. He also took part in a training camp with some of the best up and coming young athletes from around Europe, taken by legendary CrossFit Coach John Singleton.
Mason’s dedication to CrossFit Iceni and our members makes him an extremely valuable member of our team.
Tom is a certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN, Precision Nutrition Level 1) and is currently studying for MSc in Sports & Exercise Nutrition.
He has provided nutrition coaching for a range of athletes, including Team GB Special Olympics squad, Northampton Rugby and Saracens Rugby Academy players. He has also delivered the NHS diabetes prevention and healthy weight management programmes. So regardless if your goal is sporting performance, improved body composition or simply to increase your energy and lower stress, he will offer bespoke coaching to help you to identify realistic goals and provide you with the tools and support to achieve them.
Tom will be offering 1:1 nutrition consultations, 1:1 nutrition coaching and will be running a group nutrition challenge (details coming soon!).
